In reply to this post:

I’m pretty sure you already know my stance on the subject.

Like I said, it’s for anyone to answer. (I was really hoping for some people other than those who already participated before.) But leaving that aside, I honestly don’t know your answers to the questions. I’ll explain, but I’m not going to force you to respond. (You know, maybe I should start a separate blog for these discussions.)

  1. Are sexual/”Rule 34” depictions of Lauren Faust’s pony avatar morally acceptabe? Why or why not?
Okay, I know your answer to this, anyway.
  2. What right to people have to create “fan work” with characters created by others? How does this apply to sexual depictions (“Rule 34”)?
I ask this because practically all fan work of “Friendship is Magic” (sexual or not) is based on characters created by Lauren Faust. I think a lot of people don’t have a problem with this. Why not? What about other types of OCs, such as furry characters that aren’t fursonas. That leads me to the third question…
  3. Are there special considerations for avatars (such as fursonas and pony “OCs”) as opposed to other fictional characters? Why or why not?
Again, the characters in FiM (or the main six, at the very least) are essentially Faust’s OCs. So, is there some special consideration for her avatar, an alternative representation of herself, as well as other people’s avatars? It seems that the answer for you is yes. Why?
  4. What about creating and sharing a drawn depiction of the sort [a nude person such as a celebrity], or any other depiction that doesn’t involve a breach of privacy?
This one’s really for notaclopbanana, but I was hoping for your opinion on this.

(EDIT: Formatting and grammar.)

My rules give some explanation. (Everyone reads my rules, right? XD Maybe I should link to them every time I mark “RULES VIOLATION” or “RULES WARNING”.)

Anyway, my first encounter with incest in furry (EDIT: consensual incest) (not exactly pornographic) was in “Better Days,” a webcomic by furry artist Jay Naylor. The chapter I linked is where it happens (or is heavily implied, anyway). That was probably my main turn-off to incest in pornography.

More generally, sexual reproduction between closely-related individuals is disadvantageous in natural selection, because it does not create as much genetic diversity. So there is a biological reason for avoiding incest, which could lead (justifiably, in my opinion) to the cultural avoidance of it.

However, I think incest has more to do with the relationship between the individuals. Adoptive siblings are not closely related biologically, but I would still consider sex between them incest. Family relationships (I think) are asexual (going back to the biological advantage), and since the relationship between adoptive children and other members of a family is about the same, I would still consider it incest (and thus wrong to some degree).

Now the Celestia-Luna exception. You might be referring to this post, in which I mention the exception; I also mention it in my rules. In the rules, I point to a clopfic, “Tipsy” by Anonymous Pegasus on FIMFiction, whose handling of the incest desensitizes it a bit to the cultural taboo.

More generally, I make the exception because, frankly, Celestia and Luna have a pretty flimsy claim for being “sisters.” All we have for that is the first episode, but there’s no history of their birth, their parents, or their childhood. (I doubt that they’re even sisters in the traditional biological sense.) Like I said, I think incest is about the relationship, so the fact that there isn’t much of this relationship between Celestia and Luna makes it seem less like incest than if the “sister” claim is taken on its face.

I’d like to thank some followers in particular for being particularly supportive and/or having great content.

(I’m making this a separate post from my main “100 followers” post so people don’t feel bad.)

Even if you aren’t mentioned here, I still appreciate your support!

I speculated in a previous post on why some people prefer the canonical form. In short, I think maybe they strongly associate the characters (i.e., personalities) with their canonical forms, so they are put off by any variations.

It’s interesting that you mention that the same people like completely humanized versions, because my explanation is inconsistent with that. But right now I’ll just guess that maybe with the characters in totally human form it’s just regular porn or hentai to them.

Wow, thanks! I really appreciate that someone pays attention to more than just the porn.

Anyway, I hope you’ve gone through my “discussion” tag; it has all of this sort of commentary (including quite a bit about “Down with Molestia,” ugh).
