TW: CSA, rape apologism, csa apologism /To pinkiepony in re "Down with Molestia"
I know I’ll lose followers, I know I’ll get hate mail, but I’m tired of my voice being silenced. I want to be heard. This is not a joke. Sexual abuse and molestation is not a joke. I’m a victim myself, and to see people taking it so lightly, is sickening. Rape is not a joke. Rape is not sexy. Stop glorifying these acts. I recently babysat a child who entered my room, and upon seeing my massive My Little Pony collection, she ran to my Friendship is Magic shelf and started naming them, and once she got to Celestia, she told me she rapes people. She simply googled images of Celestia, and that little girl now knows what rape is. That was the last straw. I haven’t told many of you, but I had a terrible rape experience and My Little Pony is my passion. This needs to end.
I want to make a difference. Im willing to fight. Down with Molestia! We need to take a stand. Who’s with me?
So this is the seminal post for “Down with Molestia.” (Or not; correct me if I’m wrong.)
Let me start off by saying this: I can see where you’re coming from with this. That story is quite shocking, but it shows more the inability of cloppers and others interested in more “mature” themes to keep their material discreet and marked. But as rape is a very serious issue, and seeing as you yourself are a victim of sexual abuse, I can see why you’re taking it in this direction.
I am sorry that you and your supporters are getting hate (not simple criticism) for this. However, I think your campaign is a bit extreme, and somewhat exaggerates the influence of APM. It is one blog, and I have to agree with hazama-itsuru (reblogged by you) that parents should be more careful when their children are online. I believe this is what John Joseco meant with #354, that supporting APM is not supporting or trivializing rape. (Some have interpreted this as rape apology, which I think is a misconstruation.) Should he have defended himself more maturely? Probably. Do I agree with him on this? Maybe, but I’m not too sure yet.
That’s all I have to say for now. I’ll probably follow up with this soon. I hope people can continue to discuss things civilly despite the controversial issues presented.
“let’s have a civil discussion about how i think predatory adult men using a TV program for young girls as a venue for their rape porn is totally fine, god why are all you rape victims such hysterical bitches incapable of taking a joke, who gave you the idea that young girls deserve for anything they like to be safe from grown men sexualizing it and making it about rape, it’s not like 1 in 3 women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime and the majority of those assaults will happen before the victims turn 18”
you are literally disgusting and I hope the skin burns off the roof of your mouth
Oh, dear goodness. I don’t see why a contentious issue (or even one with an “obvious” answer) can’t be discussed civilly. For example, I am highly inclined to call creationists idiots, but I refrain from doing so because that doesn’t prove that evolution is true, and might suggest that I don’t have evidence to back up my claim.
You seem to make a lot of inaccurate assumptions about my views.
- “…predatory adult men…” I clop. Yes, that means I get off to erotic depictions of “My Little Pony.” That does not mean I am a pedophile. If you are familiar with “Friendship is Magic,” please note that the main six characters are adults. They have jobs. I stay away from depictions of underage characters.
- “…how i think predatory adult men using a TV program for young girls as a venue for their rape porn is totally fine” I don’t clop to APM; I don’t find it arousing. I don’t think others find it arousing, either, but funny.
- “god why are all you rape victims such hysterical bitches incapable of taking a joke” I never said that. I even conceded that I understood pinkiepony’s view. I did say that she and apparently you are exaggerating the size of APM’s impact.
- “who gave you the idea that young girls deserve for anything they like to be safe from grown men sexualizing it and making it about rape” Again, I never said that, and I actually believe the exact opposite (though I’m not sure I made that clear). I do believe children should be protected from such material. I just think, as hazama-itsuru does, that parents should take more responsibility. (Please read the post from that blog that I linked. Here is another link for your convenience.)
You should read this (and my original post) thoroughly, and I hope you understand that the palate (roof of the mouth) is not covered in skin.
I’d give a lot more credence to people on the down with molestia side feeling victimized if perfectly calm and reasonable opinions that avoid condescension, like what Heartlinda wrote, didn’t get twisted around in their mind as, “god why are all you rape victims such hysterical bitches incapable of taking a joke”. There’s also this idea they’re obsessed with that this is rape victims versus rape apologists. Clear cut good vs evil and it enables them to be just, like, really really shitty. There have been enough people who were themselves victims coming forward and saying they don’t like DWM to show that it is in fact possible to care strongly about rape victims but feel differently.

Some of these people are sane and have reasonable interests in this but then some of them are just incapable of processing the idea people who disagree with them aren’t stupid or evil. I don’t really know where I wanted to go with this.
