This is the point d'ironie (French: irony point). It was created by the French poet Alcanter de Brahm at the end of the 19th century (hence his name at the bottom of the image). It resembles a backwards question mark (which can actually be used for other purposes).

Irony and unusual punctuation aside, let’s get serious. I don’t like depictions of rape or BDSM. While consensualtentacles concedes that bondage doesn’t necessarily mean rape, that is the sort of content I don’t find attractive.
